ADDITIVES

Calendula –  Is often used to heal wounds. It is restorative and leaves skin with a youthful glow. Safe to use on the delicate skin around the eyes.

Green clay is detoxifying, gently exfoliating, clarifying (it removes impurities), and healing.

Kaolin Clay – Kaolin clay is the mildest of all clays, making it suitable for people with sensitive skin. This clay helps stimulate circulation to the skin. It is gently exfoliating and cleansing. Kaolin clay does not draw oil from the skin making it useful for those with dry skin.

Lye- We get a lot of questions about why we use lye in our soaps.  To make soap you need an alkali (like sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide) combined with fats. When the lye and the fats are combined they go through a process called “saponification”. While lye by itself is caustic when it is combined with fats you get soap. To make soaps without lye you have to use chemicals (like sodium lauryl sulfate) and you are basically making a detergent, not a soap.

Marshmallow Root – It’s anti-inflammatory properties help with puffiness and it’s been used to treat bruises and burns. It has cooling and moisturizing properties.

Rhassul Clay is very rich in minerals and is used in spas all over the world. This clay is known to smooth, relax and rejuvenate the skin.

Raw Organic Whole Milk-Milk in soap has skin nourishing properties. Many people are soaping with goat’s milk but I happen to have access to cow’s milk so that’s what we use.

Sea Salt – Is gently exfoliating and contains minerals such as magnesium, zinc ,calcium. Salt draws toxins out of the body. Soap with salt can last up to twice as long.

Silver Needle Tea – The leaves are uniquely beautiful and silver tipped exuding royalty and an exceptional soft, smooth, sweet-silky luxuriousness.

Zinc-  helps heal skin in many of the same ways dietary zinc does: It reduces inflammation, regulates immunity and may stimulate the production of new cells. It’s also an anti-microbial and can soothe and treat skin quickly.
