Sore muscles happen to all of us, the question is what to do about it. Over the counter medications are very effective but they come with side effects. This muscle rub helps to alleviate the soreness without the side effects. A combination of herbs and essential oils create a warm and spicy scent that effectively soothes sore and tired muscles.
Below I have outlined the benefits of each one.
Willow bark contains salicin. In the 1800’s salicin was used to develop aspirin. Salicin is thought to be responsible for the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the willow bark herb. Willow bark brings pain relief more slowly than aspirin but it’s effects may last longer.
Ginger is anti-inflammatory and is effective for reducing pain and inflammation. It is a warming herb and increases circulation.
Cinnamon is a warming herb and increases circulation. Cinnamon reduces pain and inflammation.
Cloves are anti-inflammatory and reduce the sensation of pain.
Cayenne contains capsaicin. Capsaicin is what makes peppers so hot, it also is what allows them to be used as a pain reliever. The hotter the pepper the higher the amount of capsaicin. Cayenne contains a very high level of capsaicin.
Peppermint essential oil has a cooling effect on the skin. Whenever you have sore muscles you can be sure there is heat as well. Peppermint oil reduces pain and swelling by it’s ability to cool the muscle.
Wintergreen essential oil increases circulation, which promotes healing, and reduces pain.
Juniper essential oil is anti rheumatic. It promotes and improves circulation
Cajeput essential oil has warming and anti-inflammatory properties which lower the sensation of pain.
Lavender essential oil creates a relaxed state and has pain reducing properties.
Eucalyptus essential oil increases circulation and reduces the sensation of pain.
